Gary "Tom" Wells, 71 of Bolivar, died Sunday March 29, 2015 at Citizens Memorial Hospital, after a long illness, he was surrounded by his family and loved ones. Tom was born in Polk County, Missouri, November 11, 1943 to Frank and Mabel Wells.

After Graduating from high school, he joined the U.S. Air force. He lived in California for many years where he worked as a union meat cutter, for a chain supermarket. Before Tom's illness, he enjoyed fishing, camping and going to Kansas City to watch the Chiefs play. He was a member of the American Legion Post 138 in Bolivar, and served as the commander for a several years.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Richard; a great-niece, Emily Wells; and several aunts and uncles.

He is survived by two daughters, Terri Knox or Hermitage, TN, and Angela Modesitt of Bolivar, Missouri; a son, Anthony Wells; and his wife, Karin of Campell, CA. Also surviving is his longtime partner, Eileen Blacketer; and her children whom he loved as his own, Deann Brock of
Joplin, MO, and also Sarah Cunningham and husband Christopher of Bolivar.

Tom also leaves behind a brother, Jerry Wells and wife Janice of Bolivar; a sister, Debbie Howlett and partner, Brent Coleman of Bolivar; his grandchildren, Michael Modesitt, Kayla Wells, and Jessica Knox; also, his "special" grandchildren, Samantha, Hunter & Kaitlyn Lancaster, all of Bolivar, Kimberly Schmelzer, Scotty Brock, Bryan Brock, Corey Brock and Joshua Brock of Granby, MO; and many nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, April 4th at 1pm at Payne Cemetery, in Polk. A "Celebration of Life" for Tom will be held on Friday, April 10th at 6:30 at the American Legion in Bolivar.
