Gary Lee Steele

Gary Lee Steele, 76, passed away on Sunday, April 6, 2025.

He was born November 6, 1948 in Rockford, Illinois to Lester and Lucy (Morell) Steele. He attended Guilford High School where he graduated with the class of 1966. Gary married LeAnna Jarl on January 25, 1969.

Gary worked at Sundstrand Corporation for more than 30 years. Sundstrand was a manufacturer of aerospace and industrial products, later becoming Hamilton Sundstrand, and eventually part of United Technologies Corporation (“UTC”). He was a proud member of the Union and Sundstrand Pool League. Gary made many lasting friendships over the years with his fellow co-workers. Gary enjoyed traveling with his wife, teaching his grandson how to play pool and poker, and watching old Westerns on television. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his loving wife, LeAnna (Jarl) Steele, brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Dorothy Steele, son and daughter-in-law, Brandon and Kate (Hodgkins) Steele, daughter and son-in-law, Kelli Steele and Daniel Torluemke, and only grandson, Gabriel Torluemke.

A celebration of life service will be at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 17, 2025 at the Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home: 500 E. Walnut Street, Springfield, MO.
