Gary Powers

Mr. Gary Austin Powers, age 75, of Springfield, Missouri passed away Sunday, December 16, 2018 at Cox South Medical Center In Springfield, Missouri.

He was born March 26, 1943 in Springfield, Missouri the son of Everett Austin Powers and Virginia (Lodwick) Powers.

Gary married Wanda Irene Cook on February 19, 1962 in Springfield, Missouri.

Gary was a lifelong resident of Springfield, Missouri. He worked as a baker for Consumer’s Grocery Store and then worked for Fuddruckers. He also owned his own private lawn mowing business for many years.

Family was important to him and he enjoyed spending time with them whenever he had an opportunity to do so.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Virginia Powers; his wife, Wanda; one brother, Bill Cooper; and his sister, Sue Reeves.

Gary is survived by his daughter, Annette Alexander and her husband Mark; three sons, Tony A. Powers, John A. Powers and his wife Phoebe, and Timothy J. Powers; three sisters, Patricia Kirkman, Betty Clements, Judy Wilkerson; four grandchildren, Mathew Powers, Tony Powers, Jr., Ricky Robey, Jr., Donna Martin; and two great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 6:00-7:00 pm Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home, 500 E. Walnut Street, Springfield, Missouri.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, December 20, 2018 in the Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Chapel with Chaplain Kathy Cooper officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Park Cemetery in Springfield.
