Gary Alfred Love, age 60, Son of Dr. Walter Love and Eulamae Love, departed this world on February the 1st, 2009 after a brave battle against metastasized prostate cancer. Gary was preceded in death by his Father, Dr. Walter Love, his Grandparents, Charles Alfred, Juanita Alfred, Fred and Blanche Love. Gary left this world with love in his heart, peace in his soul, and God by his side.

A resident of Springfield, MO and Ozark, MO most of his life, Gary graduated from Glendale High school in 1966, Yale University in 1970 with a Bachelor Degree in Psychology, and the University of Missouri School of Law in 1973. He practiced law in Southwest Missouri for over 25 years helping many local Springfield businesses and local area farmers through bankruptcy. Gary was an Eagle Scout, a Commissioned Officer in the United States Army, played football for Yale, was integral in founding Ozark Youth Soccer, was an RCIA Teacher at St. Joseph the Worker, Catholic Church, and was Captain of the Bible Crossword Team.

Gary is survived by his mother, Eulamae Love Byron of Willard, MO, his 3 brothers: Dr. Greg Love of Milwaukee , WI , Dr. Gerry Love of Boston , MA , Dr. Gerard Love of Pittsburgh , PA & Keyhan Sinai of Santa Clara, CA. Gary is survived by his wife of 35 years Cyndi Love, their 4 sons: Brian Alfred Love of Kansas City, MO, Jeffrey Kirkpatrick Love of Stagecoach, CO, Joseph Walter Love of Steamboat Springs, CO, and Kyle Owen Love of Springfield, MO. Gary leaves behind nieces: Anna Katherine Webster, Grace Webster, Aubrey Webster, Kate Love, Deirdre Love, and his nephews: E.J. Webster, Travis Webster, Thomas Webster, Tommy Webster, Samuel Webster, Andrew Love, Anthony Love, Charlie Love, and Seamus Love. Gary had a very close relationship with his brothers-in-law and their spouses: Tim and Kristin Webster and Tom and Julie Webster. Gary had many steadfast friends who stood by him and his family in the good times and in the tough times.

Gary was newly a grandfather of two: Connor Ronald Love and Sidney Sullivan Love, children of Rhena Lyn Love and Brian Alfred Love.

Gary was an avid outdoorsman, athlete, and scholar: he loved camping, hiking, water-skiing, snow-skiing, fishing, grilling, playing the piano, tennis, boating, star-gazing, biking, gardening, big bonfires, reading, and composing. Gary was a Scrabble and Trivial Pursuit Wizard, loved to design his own crossword puzzles, and had a tremendous sense of humor. Gary loved his home filled with his family and his sense of adventure, athleticism, and wonderment lives on his children and grandchildren.

A funeral mass is being celebrated by Father Denis Dougherty OSB, for Gary on Friday, February, 13th at 6pm at Saint Joseph's Catholic Church, 1115 N. Campbell Ave, Springfield, MO. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to "St. Joseph Catholic Church in memory of Gary Love." The money will go to the Library in the new St. Joseph Parish Center . Gary had a deep appreciation for anything pertaining to books and furthering education.
