Fredrick N. Moore was born on April 1, 1918 in the family home on N. Adams in Lebanon, Missouri. Fred died in Springfield, Missouri on October
30, 2015. He was the son of Dorothea Neiwohner Moore and George E. Moore. Fred was a high school athlete, excelling in football and basketball.
He graduated from Lebanon High School in 1936. After 3 semesters at MU where he participated on the football squad, he joined the Navy in 1939.
In November, 1945 he married Velga Barclay. In 1948, he left the Navy to be with family and worked for Platte Pipe Line in Wood River, Il.
It was there that two daughters, Pat and Pam, were born.
In 1965, the family moved back to Lebanon and Fred joined Civil Service working at Fort Leonard Wood for 19 years.
Fred was a member of the First Congregational Church in Lebanon where he attended since childhood. He had a deep love for fly fishing and Bennett Springs.
Fred's wife, Velga, sister Louise Coleman and brothers, George (Sonny) and Richard preceded him in death.
He is survived by daughter Pat Moore-Cook, husband Dan and grandchildren Jeff Brannock, his daughter Raegan and Sarah Brannock. Daughter Pam Smith, husband Brent and grandchildren Tricia Smith and Lance Smith, his wife Melissa and their children Kendall, Charlie and Barrett. Sisters Virginia Thompson, Lebanon and Lillian Umphres of St. Louis also survive. A private burial was held.
