Frederick Prunty

Frederick Lee Prunty passed away at his home on January 7 th, 2021. His departure was unexpected and a great shock to those that supported Fred. You might have heard stories about Fred if you have had MANDT class with Miles. Fred was the young man that had some issues with his clothing at the Springfield Zoo. If you have not had the pleasure of this teaching moment, you might ask Miles to enlighten you. Fred was a man of few words, but those he did use, he said with authority (most of them I cannot repeat). Fred was very opiniated and if he disagreed with you strongly, he might just throw his shoe at you. Fred loved old western movies and could be heard stating “Bang! Bang!” when he would watch one. Fred loved to play ball and one of his favorite things to do was to shoot baskets in the laundry hamper. Fred loved the water and would take any opportunity to enjoy a sprinkler and even a shower. Fred had been a consumer with the Arc for nearly 20 years. He has touched a lot of lives and made many friends. He loved the outdoors and watching the world outside his window. When the weather was nice, he would sit outside and just enjoy the sunshine and life that he shared with those around him. On those colder days, Fred would smile at the birds and squirrels as they would eat from the feeder outside the window. He made sure that his view was unobstructed by pulling the curtains and blinds from the wall. This might have been his favorite pastime. Actually, Fred’s favorite thing in the whole world was to have the back of his head scratched (by a pretty gal if possible) for as long as he could get them to stay. Fred was a lady’s man and always had a quick word for someone he admired. If you heard the words “I’m going to get you” you were in his good graces. Fred was a very sweet and gentle man at heart. He will be greatly missed, especially at the Norton ISL, where he lived for the past several years. God Bless you Fred and thank you for being a part of our lives and the Arc family, you will always be missed and live on in our wonderful memories of you.
