Frank Carbello

Frank Carbello, age 91, of Springfield, Missouri, peacefully passed away, Saturday, December 5, 2015 at his home.

Frank is survived by his daughters Denise Mayer, Diane Sandow, Lisa Carbello, son Jeff Carbello, sister Conjetta Byrnes and many loving grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alex and Anna, his wife Lorraine Carbello (Majewski), and son Ronald Carbello. Frank was a loving father, husband, and grandfather.

Frank was born January 16, 1924 in Pittsburg, Kansas to Alex and Anna (Chiappetta) Carbello. He was raised in Arma Kansas and attended Arma Schools. Frank married the former Lorraine Majewski in Chicago. Frank worked at International Harvester in Melrose Park for many years and then at Cook County Courthouse in Arlington Heights.

Frank served his country in World War II (HQ CO 1st BN 150th INF) from 1943 to 1944. Frank was an Ammunitions Worker (Kansas Ordnance Plant, Parsons Kansas) and served in the Military Police.

Frank loved his cars and keeping them in tip top condition that included a 60's Mercury Powder Blue Comet and 72 Brown Chevy Impala. He was a skilled garage mechanic, though extra car parts left over after reassembly always seemed to be a problem. Frank loved dancing and keeping his lawn looking green and great. Frank was an early to recline and early to rise kind of guy. Frank took fashion cues from no one: his signature clip on ties, elastic shorts paired with long black dress socks, Sear's signature powder blue denim, and short sleeve white T-shirts designed by the fashion house Fruit of the Loom. Frank's garden produced large beefsteak tomatoes that would make today's GMOs run away in shame. Frank was a man of few words that could become choice words if you drove in his fast lane. He took extreme pride in a garage floor that was more pristine than an Intel clean room.

Frank will be missed, but will always be remembered.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. Sunday Dec. 13, 2015 in Herman H. Lohmeyer Chapel.
