F. Catherine Ferrell, 84, of Springfield passed away Sunday May 31, 2015 in Mercy Hospital in Springfield.
Catherine was born Aug. 18, 1930, in Springfield, Mo. to Frank and Florence (Brugger) Horton. She worked as an R.N. for St. John’s Hospital and Dr. Francis Ellis in the Women’s Clinic for over 30 years. She volunteered in the office at St. Agnes Cathedral for many years. Catherine married Dorman E. Ferrell on April 11, 1953, in Springfield, Mo.
Catherine was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her brothers, Frank, Jack and Richard Horton, and her sister, Virginia LaScala. She is survived by her son, David Ferrell (Linda) of Rogers, Ark., her daughter, Ann Camey of Lee’s Summit; her grandchildren, Michael Ferrell and his fiancé, Sarah Mize, Adam Camey and Sarah Camey; her siblings, Bill Horton (Mary), Pat Horton (Belle), Carl Horton (Judy), Barbara Francka (Bernard), Charles Horton (Linda), Mary Ann Horton (Virginia Mayeux), and her sister-in-law, Clara and many other family members and friends.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday June 1, 2015, in Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home with a prayer service beginning at 6:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday June 2, 2015, in St. Agnes Cathedral. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Catherine’s memory may be made to St. Agnes Cathedral or St. Agnes School.
