Ezra Fredrick

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ezra Daniel (Dan) Fredrick. Dan passed away unexpectedly at the age of 87 on Monday, February 6, 2023, in Lake St. Louis, MO. He was an exceptionally caring man who was always ready to lend a hand to his friends and family and his loss will be felt by all who were lucky enough to know him. His incredible sense of humor and wit will certainly be remembered and missed.

Dan will be missed by his loving wife, Sharon (née Sullivan) of 38 years, his children Julie Moldthan (John), Brian Fredrick, stepson David Gibby (Kim), sister Dorthy Ward, grandchildren, Drew Elwell (Jessica), Marcie Elwell, Curran Fredrick, Leah Fredrick, and Clay Fredrick, his five great-grandchildren, Bentley Bartrum, Barrett Bartrum, Quinn Elwell, Reid Elwell, and Emery Bartrum. He will also be missed by Shawna Moss (Curran) and Susan Fredrick (Leah and Clay) along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Jeff Fredrick, mother, Anna Lou Etta, father, Walter B., and siblings Paul Fredrick, Leon Fredrick, Jim Fredrick, Clarice Swearingen, Louise Tryon, Betty Williams, and two infant sisters, Juanita and Alice. Dan was formerly married to Marcene Fredrick (1954-1983), who is the mother of his 3 children.

Dan served in the United States Air Force and the Missouri Army National Guard where he began his career as an Aircraft Mechanic, later attending helicopter flight schools where he learned to fly a wide variety of helicopters. Dan flew for the Missouri National Guard, retiring in 1988. During his career, he received a very special award for Meritorious Service given by then-Governor Kit Bond. He later flew the Sky 3 helicopter for Springfield, MO television station KY3.

Dan’s family will be planning a Celebration of Life in the Spring to honor an incredible man who made a difference in so many lives.
