Ms. Elizabeth Dodson, age 76, Springfield, Missouri, passed away from a short illness on Wednesday August 21, 2013.
Ms. Dodson was born in Springfield on March 26, 1937.
She was preceded in death by her father, Arthur James Dodson; mother, Bessie Jackson Dodson; sister, Doris “Judy” Robertson; and brothers, Arthur Dodson and William Dodson.
She is survived by her son, David Dodson, and his wife Sharon; grandchildren, Stephanie and her husband Dr. Larry Padilla and Natalie and her husband Ensign Marcos Marrero USN; great grandchildren, Brielyn and Landon Marrero; sisters, Kathryn Walker Bradley and Sharon Dodson Galati; and many loving nieces.
Ms. Dodson was formerly employed with the South Carolina State Government in Columbia, South Carolina. Ms. Dodson’s last two positions were with the South Carolina House of Representatives and the South Carolina Governor’s Office.
Ms. Dodson was a member of The Franklin D. Roosevelt Club. She formerly served as committee woman on Greene County Democratic Central, formerly served on Executive Board of Greene County Democratic Committee. She formerly served as Vice Chair of the 137th Legislative District. She formerly served as delegate of the 7th Congressional District. She formerly served as 1st Vice President of Greene County Democratic Women’s Club. Ms. Dodson, until her illness, was very active with the Democratic Party in South Carolina and Springfield.
She was a former member of The Legion of Mary where she served as Vice President of the Lady of the Ozarks Presidium at St. Agnes Cathedral. Ms. Dodson served as Secretary for the Legion of Mary Comitium of Springfield-Cape Girardeau Diocese. Ms. Dodson served formerly as Eucharist Minister at St. Agnes Cathedral.
Rosary service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday August 24, 2013 in St. Agnes Cathedral. Memorial Mass for Ms. Dodson will follow the Rosary service in the church under the care of Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home. Burial will follow the Mass at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens.
