Elbert "Pappy" Goodson, 91 of Republic, Mo. died at 10:55 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2007 in his daughter's home. He was born January 8, 1916 at Arnett, Okla., the son of Jasper and Sadie LaCamp Goodson. He moved to Kansas at age 5, living in Kinsley for 87 years until moving to Republic, Mo. in May 2003. He married Hazel Krumrey, Feb. 19, 1938 at Greensburg, KS, she preceded him in death on March 26, 1999. Pappy retired from Kinsley Implement Jan. 1, 1981. He worked as a mechanic and farmer most of his life.
He is survived by two daughters, Arlene Maurer of Republic, MO and Elaine Cozens of Colorado Springs, CO; one son Merlyn Goodson of Willard, MO; eight grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren; five nephews and one niece. He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2007 in the Congregational United Church of Christ in Kinsley, KS with Rev. Randy Goodson and Rev. Phillip Nelson officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery in Kinsley under the care of Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home 500 E. Walnut Springfield, MO. Visitation will be from noon until 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the church.
