Elaine O'Brien

Elaine Behnke O’Brien, a retired registered nurse, went home to her Lord unexpectedly due to a car accident on May 3rd. She was 76 years of age. Elaine is survived by her husband of 55 years, James O’Brien. She leaves loving memories to her daughter and son in law, Jennifer and James Jennings, her son, James O’Brien, and her youngest daughter and son in law, MaryLeigh and Dan Zirolli. Elaine cherished all her grandchildren: Briar, Jaimee, and Jacob Jennings, James and Emily O’Brien, and Daniel, Edward, Henry, Sophia, and Olivia Zirolli.

Elaine was born in Paterson, NJ on July 17, 1947 to Marion Cosgrove Behnke and Henry H. Behnke. She graduated from Mountainside Hospital Nursing School and in 1968 as a Registered Nurse. She married Jim O'Brien, her high school sweetheart, and moved to Crete, Nebraska. After Jim graduated from college they moved back to New Jersey. They welcomed three beautiful children, who Elaine deeply loved. Elaine was a devoted mother, a spiritual woman, and was involved in many church activities . She was a Eucharistic Minister and an officer in The Legion of Mary. Although we are deeply saddened by her passing, we take comfort in knowing she is now reunited with her parents, her sister, Kelly Finn, aunts, uncles and cousins. We are thankful she is in the arms of Jesus, and our hearts are filled with peace beyond understanding.

There will be two services: The first is in Turley, OK at Woodlake Family Church, at 2:00 PM on Saturday,
May 18, 2024. Then there will be another service near Leesport, PA at St. Ignatius Loyola Church, located at 2600 Saint Albans Drive, Reading, PA. A visitation will be at 9:00 am followed by a Mass at 10:00am on Saturday, June 8th. Please send any flowers directly to the church.
