Edward N. Weissler, 86, Springfield, Missouri went to be with his Lord, Jesus Christ on Saturday morning, October 7th.
He was born June 20, 1920 in St. Louis, Mo., to Edward and Rose (Schnitzer) Weissler. Following in the footsteps of his father and grandfather, Ed was a brewer at Anheuser Busch in St. Louis and retired in 1980 after 42 years of employment. Ed was a World War II veteran serving in the 9th Armored Division, 138th Tank Battalion and received three Battle Stars (including the Bridge at Remagen) and three Service Stripes. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church and active in the Mens' Club. He also served as Extraordinary Minister of the Church and was the Immaculate Conception "Can Man" for many years. Ed was truly one of those who "would rather be fishing". Any day fishing and hunting with family and friends was a good day.
Ed was preceded in death by his wife of almost 50 years, Marie C. Weissler. He remains the dearest father and father in law of Kathy and Jim Sammon M.D. of Springfield, Jim and Jean Weissler of Springfield, and Edward R. Weissler of St. Louis; loving grandfather of Carolyn Sammon M.D., Elizabeth Sammon and Kathryn Sammon; Jennifer Weissler, Robert Weissler, and Maureen Weissler; Erin Johnston, Greta Bohnenkamp, AJ Weissler and Luke Weissler; great grandfather of Madelyn, Wyatt, Sylvia, Benjamin and Elizabeth; dearest cousin and friend to many.
