Edward Moore

Edward “Ed” Wilkinson Moore, born October 28, 1948, in Iberia, MO, passed away last week at the age of 76 in Fair Grove. He is survived by his son, Kevin “Mike”, his daughter in law Angel, their two sons, Jayce and Tydus, and his sister Sharon.

Ed volunteered for the Army during Vietnam and had great pride in his country. After being honorably discharged, he went to college at MSU, and made lifelong friends who were still a big part of his life to this day. Through the years, they gathered for hunting, fishing, camping, and float trips.

After graduating from college, he joined the civil service and worked as a logistician. In 1988, while working at the Rock Island Arsenal, he joined a singles volleyball club and met Susan Link, married her and moved in with her and two children from her previous marriage, James Link and Erin (Link) Hofer. Though the marriage didn't work out, both were pleased to welcome their son, Kevin “Mike” into the world.

Mike was the apple of Ed’s eye. Ed spent many hours with Mike's Boy Scout troop - camping, supporting him in earning badges, through to Eagle Scout. He also continued to be a supportive parent to his stepdaughter, Erin, encouraging a lifelong love of reading and music. He had great joy in being “Pappy” to his grandsons.

Upon retiring early, he moved to Fair Grove, MO, to be closer to his best friends. They spent time together frequently, watching the Chiefs, going to Silver Dollar City, and playing poker, as well as hunting and fishing.

A Family and Friends Visitation to clebrate Ed's life will be Sun, February 16, 2025 from 11:00am to 2:00 pm, with Military Honors being rendered at 12:00 at Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home: 500 E Walnut St, Springfield, MO 65806. Interment will take place on Tuesday, February 18, 2025 at 9:00 am at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery - Springfield: 5201 South Southwood Road, Springfield, MO 65804.
