Edward Kouma

Edward Arthur Byrd Kouma passed peacefully at home, in the arms of his family on July 17, 2018.

Born on January 18, 2017, in Springfield, Missouri, he brought immense joy to every life he touched during his brief 18 months on Earth.

In his short time with us, Edward enjoyed many things, his bear’s tag, ALL of Daddy’s hats, the New York Yankees (Daddy’s favorite), strawberry milk and Baby Einstein.

Edward could light up a room with his smile, one twinkle from his big blue eyes and you knew he owned your heart. He was loved by every person who met him.

His Great Aunt Melody Anne Frazier was among his favorite people as she was his ‘surrogate grandmother’, she loved him as though he were her own.

Edward battled Neuroblastoma cancer, a battle he fought with great courage for someone so young. He didn’t allow his tough days to beat him, his general pleasing disposition and great big heart helped to keep all those around him upbeat, positive and hopeful.

Edward is the son of Edward Daniel Kouma and Rebecca Ashley (Tennison) Kibby. He is celebrated by his Paternal Grandparents Edward DeWitt and Dawn Mae Kouma of Buffalo, Missouri, his Maternal Grandparents are Tammy Dawn and Loren Leroy Rogers of Louisburg, Missouri, his Paternal Great Grandparents Marijo Mae and James Vincent Macella Sr. of Charity, Missouri, his Maternal Great Grandparents Rodger and Alice Wagoner of Jerome, Missouri, and Dorothy Tennison of Bolivar, Missouri. Edward is also celebrated by several aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

He was proceeded in death by his Paternal Great Grandparents Edward Arthur and Martha Edna “Mardy” Kouma and Rose Marie Bergmann, Maternal Great Grandfather Gordon Tennison.

In lieu of flowers we would be honored to have you support The Ronald McDonald House Charity as they supported us in our time of need.

We would like to also thank the great staff at Children’s Mercy Hospital of Kansas City, Missouri for helping us navigate around the day to day struggles of the last seven months.

A visitation will be held from 5:00pm until 7:00pm Friday evening, July 20, 2018 at Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home, 500 E Walnut Street, Springfield, Missouri.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00am Saturday, July 21, 2018 in the Herman H Lohmeyer Chapel with Ben Sillmann officiating. Burial will follow at Clear Creek Cemetery in Springfield, Missouri.
