Dorothy Baxter Hurley died Tuesday, November 28, 2006 surrounded by her family. Dottie as she was known to family and friends was born in Chatsworth, Illinois in 1917. Moving to Springfield as a young child she graduated from Central High School where she later worked until she retired from the public school system.
Preceded in death by her parents Harold and Mabel Baxter of Springfield, one sister Barbara Louise Gold also of Springfield. Dottie is survived by her son, John Patrick Hurley and his wife Gail of Ash Grove, MO. Grandson Edward Hurley, of Ash Grove, MO his wife Danielle, great-grandchildren Mia and Aaron. Granddaughter Caroline Hogan her husband Darrel and great-grandchildren Hunter and Laura, of Ozark, MO. Grandson John Hurley Jr. of Ash Grove and great-granddaughter Callie. Her daughter Pam Hurley Stettnisch and husband Ruben of Bella Vista, AR, Granddaughter Geri Collins Lovelace of Bentonville, AR Great-Granddaughter Elizabeth Lovelace and Alyx Lovelace also of Bentonville AR, and Grandaughter, Heather Rhew and her husband Michael of Huntsville, AR. Last but not least her devoted companion and friend Dan a yellow lab.
Dottie was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church of Springfield.
Her family and friends will remember her for her love of children and animals.
Funeral Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 1, 2006 in Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home 500 E. Walnut St. with Rev. Ellen Brantley and Rev. O.V. Dodson officiating. Burial will be in Maple Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home. Online condolences can be made at www.hhlohmeyer.com.
