Dorothy R. Hoy was born August 29, 1925 in Springfield, Missouri, and departed this life at sunrise on August 27, 2016.
On February 14, 1991, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, David E. Hoy.
Dorothy worked at Silver Dollar City for many years as a merchandise manager and buyer. She also spent several years at Lugene’s, a retail merchandiser, and was the manager of Ozarkland in Branson before retiring.
Dorothy loved entertaining. She was well known for her wonderful parties.
She loved to travel to her beautiful Kauai. She and Dave spent several weeks almost every February visiting the island and spending time on Dorothy’s favorite beach Polihale.
Dorothy found her home in the Catholic faith at a young age and that spirituality continued throughout her life.
Dorothy is survived by her husband, David; one daughter, Kelly Farner (Bruce) of Springfield; Dave’s five children, Debbie Gasek of Rockford, IL; David (Monica) of Jefferson City, Steve (Mindy) of Bois d’Arc, Dan (Diane) of Springfield, and Katie Barth (Kris) of Springfield; eleven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, September 3, 2016 in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 2200 West Republic Road, with Msgr. Thomas Reidy, celebrant. Following the mass there will be a dinner at the church. The burial will follow the dinner in Resurrection Cemetery Springfield, Missouri. No visitation is planned.
