Dorman E. Ferrell, 78, Springfield, passed away on September 15, 2006, in St. John's Hospital.
He was born March 8, 1928, in Springfield, Missouri to Ralph and Vinnie (Coffman) Ferrell. He was a graduate of Springfield Senior High School. He worked for over 30 years as a machine operator at Lily Tulip Corporation. Dorman served in the United States Army as a staff sergeant during the Korean War from 1950 to 1952. He was a member of St. Agnes Cathedral. He was an avid sports fan, particularly of the St. Louis Cardinals and Kansas City Chiefs.
He is survived by his wife, Catherine, of the home; his son, David and his wife Linda of Rogers, Arkansas; his daughter, Ann Camey of Lee's Summit, Missouri, three grandchildren, Michael Ferrell, Adam Camey and Sarah Camey; and his sister, Myrt Dawson, Springfield.
Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, September 18, 2006, in St. Agnes Cathedral with Fr. Thomas Reidy, celebrant. Burial, with military honors, will follow in Resurrection Cemetery under the care of Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home, 500 E. Walnut.
Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. today with a prayer service to begin at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
