Dewey Agee, 87, of Springfield, passed away Saturday, October 6, 2018 in Mercy Hospital.

Dewey was born November 14, 1930 in St. Joseph, Missouri to Dewey Franklin and Claudia Merle (Hacker) Agee.

He met the love of his life as a sophomore in High School and married Peggy Troxell on Oct 28, 1949. They have 3 children and 2 grandchildren. He was in the Missouri Air National Guard and was called to active duty on April 1, 1951 and served in France during the Korean conflict. He received an Honorable Discharge in August of 1952 with the rank of Staff Sgt.

After graduation from Benton High School, he worked at Quaker Oats and worked his way through the ranks of loading Box Cars to the office of Transportation and Traffic Management, after attending the University of Kansas City, where he graduated with Honors.

After leaving Quaker Oats he went to work with Prudential Ins. Co. as a salesman and worked his way to assistant Mgr. Training Consultant and then as Manager of the Clayton, MO office.

He received his Professional CLU degree in Ins. from The American College of Life Underwriters in Bryn Mawr, Penn. in Sept. of 1972.

He retired from Prudential in 1986 and joined Ohio National Ins. Co the same year and won numerous awards and trips with both companies and was still associated with Ohio National at his passing.

He was a Mason, Scottish Rite and a Shriner and a Member of the Hospital Dads.

He was an avid golfer with two Holes in one and was a volunteer for 19 years at the Price Cutter Charity Champions. He was an active member of Wesley United Methodist Church for many years.

On June 23, 2015 he was on the Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. with 75 other veterans and was amazed at the reception here and in Washington. It was a trip of a life time.

Dewey is survived by his loving wife Peggy; his children, Janice Agee (Linda Wallace) of Maryville, TN, James Agee (Judy Green) of Nixa, MO and Linda Caldron (Winn) of Galena, MO; two granddaughters Nichole Gillen and Brooke Agee; a brother Jerry Lee Agee (Arietta) of Broken Arrow, OK; many nieces and nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Rose Mary Ball.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday October 10, 2018 in Wesley United Methodist Church. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service in the church. Committal services with military honors will be at 9 a.m. Thursday October 11, 2018 in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery.
