David E. Sellars, 71, Park Hills, Mo. formerly of Springfield, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2005 in Barnes-Jewish Extended Care Facility in St. Louis after a prolonged struggle with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease.
David was born March 18, 1933 in Eminence, Mo. to Frank Hyde and Margie Marie (Williams) Sellars. He was a Korean War Airforce Veteran and retired from the Department of Corrections in 1993. During his lifetime he was active in his church, the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts of America and youth baseball.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 42 years, Bonnie Sellars; his daughter-in-law, Susan Sellars, and four brothers, Clint, Jack, Bill and Don.
He is survived by his three sons, David G. Sellars and wife, Ruth of Hilo, Hawaii, Timothy Sellars of Holt Summit, Mo., and Paul Sellars and wife Cindy of Park Hills, Mo.; his daughter, Teresa Kennedy and husband Donald, Jr. of Trabuco Canyon, Calif.; seven grandchildren, Donald, Kristina, Timothy, Kawika, Lucas, Noelani and Garrett; a one great grandson, Donald.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 19, 2005 in Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home 500 E. Walnut St. with Rev. Charles Hufft officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Fordland Cemetery, Fordland, Mo.
Visitation will be from 12 p.m. until service time Saturday in the funeral home.
