David Savage

David, 62, of Springfield, Missouri, died Thursday, April 29, 2010, in Cox South Hospital, Springfield.

He was born January 30, 1948, in Altus, Oklahoma, to Marlon and Winona (Mitchell) Savage. David grew up in Texas and Arvada, Colorado, and received his undergraduate degree from Phillips University, Enid, Oklahoma.

David served in the U.S. Army Reserve and was a volunteer for the Peace Corps, with which he served three years in the Philippines.

David loved his three beautiful daughters, whom he coached in a number of sports, and he enjoyed teaching elementary school, which he did until his retirement.

Survivors include his father and step-mother, Marlon and Willie Mae Savage, of Bethany, OK; two daughters, Kellie (Timothy) McDonald of Golden, CO, and Kristin (Bryson) Rintala of Clayton, OH; two grandchildren, Caelen and Mhari Rintala; two brothers, Larry (Irene), Dearborn Hts., MI, and Gayle (Karen), Anchorage, AK; two sisters, Jan (Louis) Hard, Centennial, CO, and Beverly (Hardy) Stone, Walkersville, MD.; and a step-sister, Deahn (Michael) Savage, Bethany, OK.

He was preceded in death by daughter Lindsay and step-brother John Houpe.

Cremation has taken place, and a memorial service is planned for 7:00 p.m., Monday, May 10, at Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home, 500 E. Walnut, Springfield, MO.
