David Murray

David Gene Murray passed away on June 12, 2024, at the age of 81.

Dave had a knack for making things better with his creativity and his ability to fix things - whether it was restoring cars, painting, stained glass, pottery, or just about anything. At his home in Halltown, Missouri, Dave was often found in his shop with his dogs right by his side (or underfoot). An open-top car on a country road with no destination and Nancy by his side made for a perfect afternoon for Dave.

Dave was born in Afton, Oklahoma, and graduated from Davenport High School in Davenport, Oklahoma. Dave also served in the Navy and was awarded a medal for being an Atomic Veteran. He spent the majority of his career working for AT&T. Dave could give lessons on how to retire as he did it with heart and soul.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Murray, along with his brother Ronnie Murray (Carol Murray) and sister Judy Anderson (Jim Anderson), and some very special nieces and nephews. He was also loved by additional family with Nancy’s daughter, Tracy Atfield (Cliff Atfield), and grandchildren Kirsten Alliston (Spencer Alliston) and Trey Atfield (Anna Kate Atfield).

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Grace Murray, along with his sisters Billie Bowman, Faye McGee, and Marcella Hickson, and brothers Donald Murray and Richard Dean Murray.

No services are planned at this time. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home of Springfield, Missouri.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Dave’s honor to the American Cancer Society.
