David Lee

David Mac Lee Jr., 58, of Springfield, passed away at 11:22 a.m. Monday, October 19th, 2015 in Cox Hospital. He was born in Kansas City, Missouri to David Mac Sr. and Ada Lee. He was a 1975 graduate of Kickapoo High School, Springfield, Mo. He worked for Wirt Construction for 35 years, and currently Simply Delicious Catering Co. and Cox Hospital. He loved fishing, getting together with family and friends, grilling out on his Weber Grill, driving his two favorite women around while they shopped, going to baseball games with our friends Ken and Sue McCrory and how Ken made it possible to have our own personal commentator, bartending on the weekends for Simply Delicious, and going to Steak n Shake during happy hour for a large un-sweet tea with a lemon.

For those who knew David, they knew that he was honored to be a 4th Degree Knight of the Knights of Columbus. He loved volunteering and doing everything he could to help what the Knights stand for. Every year for the last 16 years, Dave has helped volunteer at many charitable events, one being the Tootsie Roll Drive, which was actually not even two weeks ago. Dave served as Grand Knight for two years and was currently on the board for the Compass Club. He couldn’t be more proud to be a part of the remodel of the Knights of Columbus building about 10 years ago.

David is preceded in death by his father, David M. Lee, Sr., and his brothers Greg and Pete.

David’s pride in joy was his daughter, Taylor. She was the light of his life. He was part of every stage in her life. He loved his mom, Ada. She was always there for him. He loved going to visit her at least every Sunday just to talk about how their week went. David and Donna were always together. They would have been married 28 years on October 24th. David had many friends. He loved being a jokester with family, friends, and coworkers.

David never met a stranger. He loved his family and his friends deeply. David will be deeply missed. The family would like to thank all our family and friends for their love and support during this most difficult time.

The visitation is Friday, October 23rd, 2015 at 10 AM, funeral Mass with Fr. Reidy celebrant is to follow at 11 AM at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Church on Republic Road.
