David M. Hunt 93 years young passed away June 4, 2016 after a long life well lived. He was born July 30, 1922 to Harmon and Frances (Jones) Hunt in Talmadge, Ohio. Dave entered the Army Airforce in 1942 and went on to become a flight instructor and flew B17 bombers. He retired after 30 years of service as a command pilot and Lt. Colonel.
He married F. Maxine Hunt (Micky) in 1944 and was married for 55 years. She preceded him in death.
Dave worked in the energy field and retired after 20 years with Harry Cooper Supply in 1988. He was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason for 50 plus years.
Dave was preceded in death by his wife Micky Hunt; his daughter Rebecca Sue Kaiser Hunt Ward; and son-in-law Francis Cates.
He is survived by his four children, Sharon Cates, Carol Loving (Gene), David R. Hunt, and Melissa Allee (Michael); seven grandchildren, Geri Milsaps, Brian Cates (Sarah), Alison Rosebrough (Dan), Kim McGlohan (Dave), Andrea Gaba (Victor), Julie Daugherty, Jessica Hunt; and 17 great grandchildren.
David Morris Hunt WWII pilot, spouse, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend has left the bounds of earth to fly his next mission. May he have blue skies and clear weather for his journey to join the many friends and family members who wait for him.
There will be a memorial graveside service with military honors at 10 a.m. Thursday June 16, 2016 in the Springfield National Cemetery with Rev. Andrew Chaney officiating. There will be a celebration luncheon following at 11:30 a.m. in First and Calvary Presbyterian Church 820 E. Cherry Street Springfield. The family looks forward to receiving friends at that time.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Dave’s memory may be given to the DAV or the Salvation Army.
