Dale Steward

On May 18th 1967 this world was given the gift of a wonderful baby named Dale Elsworth Steward. His parents, Richard Steward and Ramona Voegele, couldn’t have been anymore delighted. He showed the world at a young age how intelligent, funny, mischievous he was and how his smile could light up a room.

Growing up, Dale worked on a farm and was very country through and through. He never thought once about getting his hands dirty and usually had a smile on his face while working on the things he loved. He enjoyed working on cars and motorcycles.

On December 21st 1989, he was blessed with his first child, Shantara Tyre Steward. Dale married his first wife, Ronda Hyde, on August 4th 1990. Two years later on November 4th 1992, he was blessed with his second child, Rory McKenna Steward. He loved his daughters dearly and planned for a better future for them. Dale always pushed them to get good grades in school and pushed them to have high standards and morals.

Years later after he was divorced, he went on to work as a psychologist. He tried every day to help people who were in bad places in their lives. All he ever wanted to do was help people. He worked at Fordland Correctional Facility where he helped many inmates.

He watched his girls graduate high school and pushed them in every direction to better themselves and to make sure he had provided a good life for them. Dale was always there to support them in whatever life direction they chose.

When Dale was a teenager, he met a woman named Kandi Harless. He fell in love. They lost contact for 26 years and in December of 2009, they found each other again. In May of 2010, Dale moved to Watertown, SD. to be with the love of his life. He found extreme happiness there. He started working on the railroad as a conductor and engineer. Dale was to marry Kandi on September 1st 2012 with his daughters as his best men.

Tragically, on July 9th 2012, Dale was taken from this world.

Dale’s memories will live on in every one. People need to always remember Dale always tried his best to help anyone who needed him. They will remember his laughter and his smile and how every time he smiled his eyes would smile too. He was mischievous and charming and people would always fall under that spell.

His memories will live on through: his daughters, Shantara and Rory; his fiancé, Kandi and her children, Nathan, JJ, Saza and Melody; his mother, Ramona Voegele; his father and step-mother, Richard and Sally Steward; his brothers and sisters, Cherie, Elroy, Eddie, Deanna, Cathy, Barb, Bonnie and Valerie. Plus all of his friends.
