D. Joan Powers

D. Joan Powers, age 67 of Kerrville, passed away Monday, March 17, 2008 in a local hospital. She was born August 9, 1940 in Elk Creek, MO to Earl and Bessie (Grose) Sigman. On August 12, 1977, she married Thomas L. Powers in Springfield, MO. Mrs. Powers was a medical transcriptionist. She was active in the Kerrville Humane Society and a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Kerrville.

She is survived by husband, Tom Powers of Kerrville; daughters, Jody Powers of Houston and Kathleen Powers-Maxon of Blue Springs, MO; sons, Terry Taylor and William Taylor, both of Mountain Grove, MO, Edward J. Powers of Houston, Thomas L. Powers, Jr. of Crozet, VA, Patrick Powers of Mattoon, IL, Kerry Powers of Evansville, IN, Christopher Powers of St. Louis, MO and Kevin Powers of Austin, TX; sisters, Sharon Epperson of Columbia, MO and Janet Sigman of Cabool, MO; brother, Verl Sigman of Elk Creek, MO; 18 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 19, 2008, 5-7 PM at Grimes Funeral Chapels in Kerrville. Services will be held Thursday, March 20, 2008, 2 PM at Trinity Baptist Church of Kerrville officiated by Dr. John Petty and David Reinhart. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, March 25, 2008, 11 AM at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Springfield, MO. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity Baptist Church of Kerrville or to the Kerrville Humane Society
