CINDY (FELKER) SAMFORD, age 55, of Springfield, MO, lost her courageous battle with cancer and transitioned to her heavenly home on March 18, 2016. Cindy was born on January 3, 1961, to Kenneth and Leah Felker of Norwood, MO. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Donna Faye Felker; her brother, Charles (Chuck) Felker; her mother-in-law, Wilma Samford McClellan, and her father-in-law, William Samford. Surviving Cindy are her husband David; her beloved sons, Kyle and Kory; her sister, Carolyn Vienhage Little all of Springfield; her brother-in-law, Dan Samford and Mendy of St. Joseph, MO; her brother-in-law, Dwayne Samford of Murfreesboro, TN; her niece, Lori Felker Mills and nephew, Ron Felker and their families of Mtn. Grove, MO; her niece, Diana Weeks and family of Shawnee, KS; her nephew, Charles (Tony) Vienhage and his family; her nieces, Cathi Manning and her family; Becky Bryson; Penni Dillstrom and her family, all of Springfield; her niece, Vicki Meyer of Atlanta, GA; her nieces, Brandy Meeks and her family of Marysville, MO and Kristen Vetere and her family of St. Joseph, MO. She is further survived by a host of great nieces and nephews and many wonderful friends and co-workers.
Cindy, along with her family, is a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Springfield. She was Office Manager for the Evans & Dixon-Springfield Law firm where she enjoyed many years of employment.
Cindy was known for her party planning for her family and office events. She would always make certain that birthday parties and holidays were special. Table Rock Lake was one of her favorite places where she and her family spent many holiday weekends. Beaches were another passion – especially Myrtle Beach and those in the beautiful Hawaiian Islands. Cindy, Dave and the boys had a lovely and memorable vacation there in January, of 2015.
Visitation will be 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 22, 2016 in Wesley United Methodist Church, 922 W. Republic Rd., Springfield. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday March 23, 2016 in Countryside Nazarene Church, 150 E. Norwood St. in Norwood, MO with burial following in Thomas Cemetery, Norwood under the care of Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home Springfield, MO.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in her memory to Lung Cancer Research, The American Cancer Society, 2926 E. Battlefield, Springfield, MO 65804 or to the HavenHouse (for patients and their families who travel to St. Louis for medical care), 2685 Olive Boulevard, St. Louis, MO 63141. Cindy would like it to be known that she was a non-smoker and that lung cancer kills more Americans than any other type of cancer.
