Chuck Alonzo

Chuck Elton Alonzo, 37, Springfield, passed away on October 29, 2015.

He was born May 20, 1978 in Denver, Colorado.

“Death isn’t the end, it’s only the beginning of a Greater Adventure.”

He leaves behind a multitude of family and friends. His partner of 19 years – Noah Sheldon; his adoptive parents – Roger and Charlene Dancer and Vernon Sheldon; a sister – Donette Murphy; two nieces – Alexis Goforth and Brooke Murphy; a nephew – Cody Dancer. Along with many other family and friends, including James and Alisha Norman and many from Walmart, where he worked.

Chuck had a great love for all video games, martial arts, comic books, cats and the Japanese Culture.

He was a gentle and loving soul who would bend over backwards to help others. He would help anyone in need whenever he could. He would often sacrifice his own happiness and well-being for the sake of others. Although he had difficulty making friends, he cherished those he had. He dearly loved his adoptive family and loved the time he had to spend with them. Often saying that they were the only family he ever really had. He was deeply creative and loved writing and would often do so when he found the time. He went out of his way to greet everyone with a friendly “Hi! How are you?”

He has now started his new journey.

“THE FLAMES OF THE DRAGON WILL NEVER DIE, THEY WILL BURN ON IN OUR HEARTS FOREVER.”

Memorial services will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday November 8, 2015 in Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home, 500 E. Walnut Street.
