Chester Campbell

Chester R. Campbell, age 95, was called home January 3, 2008, to be reunited with Dorothy, his bride of over 50 years. He passed away peacefully at home with his loving son Jim by his side.

Chester was born Jan. 29, 1912 to Charles W. Campbell and Hannah (Halverson) Campbell in Chamberlain, S.D. He was a member of the Plumbers & Pipefitters Local #178 for over 50 years. Thanks to the members of Local 178. Chester was a WWII Veteran, serving in the South Pacific. He was awarded 2 Bronze Stars for bravery, among many other medals and honors.

Chester was preceded in death by the "love of his life" Dorothy, a daughter Shirley Thompson, 3 sisters, 3 grandchildren and his parents. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Cindy Campbell; his daughters, Barbara Bruce and Judy Reeser; sisters, Mildred Waltman and Loretta Warren; as well as 19 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 17 great-great-grandchildren.

A special thank you to Lisa with Integrity Home Care for her loving care of our precious father in his final days, as well as St. John's Hospice.

Funeral services will be at 12:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 7th in Herman H. Lohmeyer Chapel 500 E. Walnut St. Commital services with military honors will follow at 2 p.m. at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
