Cheri Jeanne Van Ryswyk, 75, of Mount Vernon Missouri, passed away on Saturday, May 28th, 2022, and Mount Vernon Missouri.
She was born April 29, 1947, in Kansas City, Missouri the daughter of Jacques Leitner and Gloria “Maxine” (Dohogne) Leitner.
Cheri lived most of her life in Missouri with the" love of her life" husband Jerry. They loved going to the lake and fishing off their boat and having their fifth wheel. She loved entertaining for holidays and putting out a big spread. Always put so much thought into gift giving whether it was family or friends. Cheri was always a hard worker and excelled at whatever she did. Her biggest attribute was her big heart and putting others first.
She had worked as a furniture salesperson at Montgomery Wards in Chicago, Waffle House as a server and then the famous Hamby’s Steak House for 8 years starting out as a server and moving up to Manager. She was featured in an article of the Springfield News-Leader in 2000 on the tradition of the restaurant. But her best job ever was being such a wonderful Mother.
Her most loved interests were sewing (Halloween costumes were the best), crafting, baking, and cooking. For many years, she rented a booth at the Apple Butter Making Days, which is one of Missouri's most popular festivals where she would make and sell her crafts. She made anything that she thought would interest others, even took on stained glass. Didn't matter what it was because everything was made just perfect.
Let’s not forget to mention how neat and clean she kept her house and how she presented herself to the nines. Always had her face done with makeup so pristine and hair done to match. It doesn't matter who she came across as she was loved and admired by everyone.
Cheri was preceded in death by her husband Jerome Van Ryswyk, Mother Maxine Roberts, and Stepfather Kenneth Roberts.
She is survived by Father Jacques Leitner, Son Shannon Terp, Daughter Gloria L Cannata, Son Erik Terp (Gina), 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren and her furbabies whom she adored.
Visitation will be held from 2:00-3:00pm on Saturday, June 4, 2022, at the Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home, 500 E. Walnut Street, Springfield, Missouri 65806.
