Charles Leighter

Charles “Charlie” LeRoy Leighter, formerly of Lee’s Summit, Missouri passed away March 13, 2017, after a lengthy battle with early onset Alzheimers disease.

Charles was born on June 18, 1942 to Buddy Gene and Olive Gertrude (Powell) Leighter.

He was preceded in death by his father Bud and his son, Brad Leighter.

He was a graduate of Lee’s Summit High School and CMSU in Warrensburg, Missouri.

Charles was a veteran, serving his country in the United States Air Force. He spent the last 30 years of his life as a substance abuse counselor, with the majority of those years working for the State of Missouri at Western Missouri Mental Health Center in Kansas City, Missouri.

He leaves behind his wife Pat of Aurora, Missouri; his mother of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; brothers, James Leighter of Lee’s Summit, Missouri and Steve Leighter of Pleasant Hill, Missouri; daughters, Brandy Leighter of Kennewick, Washington, Julie Hart of Raymore, Missouri, Jenny Reed of Sedalia, Missouri, and Jeannie Hall of Aurora, Missouri; 10 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Cremation arrangements are under the care of Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home.

There will be a memorial service held at a later date.
