Charles Katzfey, 77, Springfield, passed away at 11:07 a.m. Wednesday, April 18, 2007, in St. John's Hospital.
He was born June 13, 1929 in Wentworth, Missouri to John and Ida (Eimer) Katzfey. He was married to Kitty Jo Katzfey in 1954, who preceded him in death. They were married for 28 years. He served in the U. S. Navy and was also a member of the Missouri National Guard. Charles worked for Springfield City Utilities for 39 years and retired March 1, 1994.
He is survived by: daughters Phyllis C. Wilson and husband, Steve, of Republic, Lori Evans and husband, Don, of Rogersville, and Larissa Bengel and husband, Paul, of Springfield, and a son David Katzfey also of Springfield, currently serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 21, 2007 in St. Agnes Cathedral with Msgr. Thomas E. Reidy celebrant. Burial with military honors will be in St. Mary's Cemetery under the care of Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home, 500 E. Walnut.
Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday evening with Rosary service starting at 7:00 in the Funeral Home.
