Bluegrass Charles Raymond Carnelison, age 74, of Springfield, Missouri passed away on Sunday, August 22, 2021 at Cox South Medical Center in Springfield.
He was born on May 24, 1947 in Hollister, Missouri the son of Ira Carnelison and Nellie (Powell) Carnelison.
Charles sang and Preached the Gospel most of his life as an Evangelist. He was a Greeter at WalMart on West Sunshine from 1998 until 2002.
He married Mary Maxine King on April 11, 2015 at Midtown Ministries in Springfield, Missouri.
Charles enjoyed playing and singing gospel bluegrass music (he would say there was no other music), was a faithful St. Louis Cardinals fan, writer of short stories in Hillbilly form (some true-some fiction), gardening, preaching, fishing, attending Bluegrass Gospel Concerts. He enjoyed writing gospel songs and was a recording artist with his biggest hit called 20-20 Vision. He was a member of Midtown Recovery Ministries, and his biggest joy was seeing people turn their lives over to God.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Ira & Nellie Carnelison; two brothers, James Carnelison, Leon Carnelison; one sister; Nancy Carnelison; and his stepdaughter, Sharon Pilmore.
Charles is survived by his wife; Mary Carnelison; one son, Mathew Carnelsion; one daughter, Susie Young; his brother, John Carnelison and his wife Martha; his sister, Marella Hoadlin; three stepchildren, Sandy DePew and her husband Doug, Bill Pilmore, Jr., Buddy Pilmore and his wife Suzette; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00pm on Thursday, August 26, 2021 at Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home, 500 E. Walnut Street in Springfield, Missouri.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00am Friday, August 27, 2021 at the Funeral Home with Buddy Pilmore officiating. Burial will follow at Hazelwood Cemetery in Springfield, Missouri.
