Carolyn Riffie

Carolyn S. Riffie (77) passed away on May 13th, 2020 in her home. She was born in Columbiana, Alabama to Eileen (Prentice) and E. C. Walker. She attended school in Hayti, Missouri and St Louis, Missouri and also several years of college courses taken in Springfield. She married Gary T. Smith and had three children Mary E Fisher, Scott S Smith and Chuck G. Smith.

Carol was a drug and alcohol counselor and sponsored many people in AA. She loved music, babies, dancing, and animals, God and her family and friends. She was active in church when her health allowed.

She was proceeded in death by her mother and father, sisters Betty Harden and Lora Mae Gardener and her grandson Anthony Scott Dunning.

She survived by her three children: Mary Fisher (Michael) of Kansas City, Missouri, Scott (Linda) Smith of Kearney, Missouri, and Chuck (Jen) Smith of Kansas City, Kansas; her grandchildren: Dawn Holthaus, Tanaya Tacker, Seth Smith, Alex Smith, Chris Chapman, Josh Chapman, Gabriel Smith, London Smith, and Finn Morris; her great grandchildren: Rayden and Saylor Holthaus, Journey, Cash, and Milli Tacker, Willow Chapman, Brayden, Peyton, Abigail and Brielle Chapman, and Silas Smith; her sisters, Carma "Jo" Diamond and Mary Renfro; brother Ron (MaryAnn) Walker; a stepson Dustin Riffie and step daughter Alicia Riffie-Smith and many nieces and nephews and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 pm, Saturday, May 29th, 2021 at Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home: 500 E. Walnut Street, Springfield, MO 65806.
