Boyd Manning

Boyd Henry Manning Jr. age 70, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 18th, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born on March 19th, 1954 in Windsor, England to Boyd and Joyce Manning. He was a graduate of Glendale High School 1973, Springfield Mo. He married the love of his life Cathi Vienhage Boyd on February 26th, 1997 in the Bahamas. They had just celebrated their 27th wedding anniversary together.

Boyd had a life-long career in the car business. He worked 28 years at Vincel Buick. He started out as a wash boy and worked his way up to new car sales manager, winning multiple awards from the dealership and General Motors. He also worked 10 years at Thompson Sales.
From there, Boyd and his wife Cathi bought Assisting Aging Parents, Ozark MO. After 10 years, they sold the business and Boyd decided to retire. It wasn’t too long after retiring that he went back to work at Marshfield Chevrolet as a car salesman.

Along with being an executive by day, he was also a drummer by night. Boyd was well known for playing the drums for bands such as Thirst N Howl, The Beat Goes On, and Bill Duke and Route 66. Boyd was very proud of being part of the local and regional music scenes in Southwest Missouri. All of Boyd’s bands performed for the Firefall events in Springfield. In his free time, Boyd was an avid golfer. He loved playing the sport, especially with his grandson, James.

He is survived by his loving wife Cathi Manning (Springfield), children Charley Boyd and wife Mira (Ozark) and Laura Bingham and fiancé Dr. Cary Marquis and family (Springfield). He is also survived by his brother Mike and wife Patty (Springfield). He is preceded in death by his parents Boyd H and Joyce Manning and his brother Jay Manning.

Special thanks to all that took care of Boyd from Amedisys Home Care and Seasons Hospice.
