Bobby Nell

Bobby Lee Nell passed away on Sunday, July 18, 2021, at the age of 77.

Bobby will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather (papa). He was a quiet, intensely private man who preferred the company of his family, especially his grandchildren.

Born Bobby Lee Nell to Oscar Lee Nell, Sr. and Lynnea Ivarene Nell on February 12, 1944, in Lodi, California. He graduated from Central High School in Springfield, Mo, where he met his future wife, Evelyn. After serving in the Air Force at Fort Sam Houston, in San Antonio, they both returned to Springfield to raise their family. He had an awarding career on the Springfield Police Department before becoming an over the road truck driver for Roadway Transportation where he amassed over 3.5 million accident-free miles.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Evelyn; his parents, Oscar and Lynnea Nell; and his brother, Oscar Nell, Jr.

He is survived by his three children, Stephanie (Bill) Mabary, Lori (Scott) Hickman, and Robert (Crystle) Nell, all of Springfield, Mo. He is further survived by his six adoring grandchildren.

Bobby will be truly missed by his family, but they are taking comfort in knowing that he has been reunited with his loving wife Evelyn, as he wrote on all his cards to her “Always and Forever”.

A Veterans Service will be held on August 27, 2021, at 11:00 am at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery: 5201 S Southwood Rd, Springfield, MO.
