Beuford Lowrance

Beuford Leroy Lowrance, 86, born on February 25, 1921, died July 25, 2007 after a short fight with cancer. He was married to Kathlee Inabelle Goss on November 21, 1942, and they had one child, Jerry Leroy Lowrance.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four siblings, Iva Long, Edgar Lowrance, Guy Lowrance and Gayford Lowrance, and his son Jerry Lowrance.

He is survived by his wife, Inabelle Lowrance, his daughter-in-law, Cathy Lowrance, four grandsons and their wives, Christopher and Melanie Lowrance, Robert and Elizabeth Lowrance, Matthew and Hannah Lowrance, and Benjamin Lowrance, and nine great-grandchildren, Katy, Bailey, Jordan, Samantha, Maggie, Mary, Grace, Jude and another to be born in August.

Beuford flew 50 missions over Italy in World War II, and received 3 Bronze Stars, a Purple Heart, a WWII Victory Medal, as well as other decorations and was Honorably Discharged from the US Air Force on September 6, 1945.

Beuford graduated from MU, and had a long career in banking beginning at the Bank of Hartville, MO, worked as a Bank Examiner for the FDIC, managed banks in Madison, Keytesville, and LaPlata, MO, and ending his career as owner of the Bank of Harwood, with branches in Harwood and Dederick, MO. After retirement, Beuford and Inabelle delivered Meals on Wheels in Springfield, and he was an active member of the Purple Heart Association. They were longtime members of Wesley United Methodist Church.

After teaching himself how to use computers, he taught computer classes for seniors until the age of 85. Beuford was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. "Grandpa, you were always there for your grandsons. You made it to almost all of our games and events, you always made us laugh, and you were the best Grandfather anyone ever had. We love you dearly, and will miss you terribly. We're glad that you're at peace in Heaven with Dad, and with Jesus our Lord."

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday July 30, 2007 in Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home 500 E. Walnut with Dr. Bruce Baxter and Rev. Dennis Bowling officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
