Betty L. Lund, 79, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 13, 2010.
She was born June 22, 1930 in Springfield, Missouri, to Helen (Krieg) Smith and Clyde Smith.
When Betty was young, she married Robert E. Langley. They joked that they raised one another but didn't do a very good job. In later years she married Frank D. Lund, who preceded her in death in 1992. Bob also preceded her in death. Additionally, Betty was predeceased by her parents, her sister Sarah Arbuckle, and brothers R. C. and Bob Kinser.
Betty was a kind, thoughtful lady who never stopped giving of herself to others; and a most loving mother to her son, Jeffrey.
Betty graduated from Hil Cres College of Cosmetology and worked in that profession many years. At age 65, she was ordained by the Church of the Nazarene and served on the staff of Dayspring Nazarene. She also was a chaplain in long-term care facilities for 15 years. Her ministry was her life's passion and she was a faithful servant.
Betty is survived by her son, Jeff; her brothers Albert, Ben, Jon, and Robert Smith; her sisters Janet Adams and Sandi Kelley; several nieces and nephews; and her loving, supportive church family.
A special thanks to Hospice Compassus for their care and kindness.
Services will be at Dayspring Church of the Nazarene, 2812 E. Grand, Saturday, January 16, 2010 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Jim Furnas officiating. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday, January 15, 2010 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Herman Lohmeyer Funeral Home.
