Benjamin Burton "Ben" Rook, 65, Springfield MO, passed away December 19 2024, after a lengthy illness.
Ben was born February 13 1959 in Springfield MO to George and Imogene Rook. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Chris Rook. He is survived by a sister, Teresa, and her husband, Jim Baugues, Holladay TN, a special cousin, Saundra Nigliazzo, Brighton MO and her "Team Ben", numerous cousins and many many friends.
Ben was born with a God given talent. A talent that showed even in first grade. Throughout Ben's life his art was front and center. He could draw and paint anything. His imagination created the most wonderful subjects. His jobs sent his art all over the U.S.; album covers, food labels, dog food packaging, advertisements, and posters. He was known for his detailed St Patrick's Day posters. He loved participating in the St Patrick's Day parade.
Ben's love of the outdoors led him on many adventures. From driving up into Canada and then across to the west coast camping along the way, eating rattlesnake and making jello outside in the Rockies, countless float trips on every river around, and backpacking trips through many states.
Ben made friends with everyone he met. Many friends he had known his whole life and every friend has a great story to tell of their adventures with Ben. He was greatly loved and will be greatly missed.
Arrangements are with Lohmeyers. No service is planned but a Celebration Of Ben's Life will be held February 15 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at American Legion Post 639, 2660 S Scenic, Springfield MO.
