Ben Franklin Hopkins, Jr., passed away on February 18, 2012 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, in St. Louis, MO, after fighting a courageous battle with leukemia. Ben was born to the late Ben and Dorothy Hopkins on July 22, 1956 in Springfield, MO. Ben graduated from
Parkview High School in 1975. After high school Ben went to work for Frisco Railway.
In 1982 Ben moved his family to Memphis, Tennessee and was in the auto sales business for 30 years.
Ben is survived by his loving wife of 36 years and high school sweetheart, Kari (Payton) Hopkins, daughter Holly (Clint) Butler, grandaughter Bailey and grandson Luke, Glendale, MO; son Dustin (Mekenzie) Hopkins and grandson, Jackson, Germantown, TN; parents-in-law Martha and Allen Gann, Springfield, MO., and Gary and Regina Payton, Denton, TX; siblings; Katy Loving, Kimberling City, MO., Mark (Vicki) Hopkins, Cordova, TN., Debbie Hopkins, Judy (Mike) Lohmeyer, Kim (Randy) Will and Loura Hopkins, all of Springfield, MO; Brother-in-laws Craig (Pat) Payton, Springfield, MO., and David (Rika) Gann, Japan; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, and best friend, Tim Cannon, Bartlett, TN.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday February 22, 2012 in Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home, 500 E. Walnut St. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday February 21, 2012 in the funeral home.
A memorial service is planned in Memphis, TN at 10:00 a.m. Saturday February 25, 2012 in Forest Hill East Funeral Home, 2440 Whitten Rd., Memphis, TN.
