Barbara Jean (O’Brien) Evans, a resident of Springfield, Mo. since 1996. She fought a courageous battle for 6 months. Barbara passed away peacefully in Ozark Community Hospital on Feb. 21, 2012. She was born Sept. 27, 1967 a west coast girl from San Diego, Calif.
“I had the privilege and the honor to know her for almost 25 years. She was stronger than anyone I’ve ever seen. We got married in 1991 and she gave me the greatest gift of all, my daughter Brittany on my birthday. So how do you top that?”
She graduated and received her diploma from Chula Vista Calif. She was very outgoing and athletic, she played varsity volleyball and played fast pitch softball for almost 10 years.
Barbara will be remembered by her parents, Phil and Rosemary O’Brien; her aunt Ninny and uncle Ron of Joplin; her sisters, Theresa and Sandy; her brother, Patrick, her cousins, Kenny and Corey, Ronnie and Wendy; her nieces, Jennifer, Jessica, Savanna, Chelsea but most of all her daughter, Brittany Marie and her husband, Steve.
She touched everyone she came in contact with for the better and will be sorely missed.
A memorial graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Friday Feb. 24, 2012 in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery with Rev. Fred Royer officiating.
I said a prayer for you today
And I know God must have heard
I felt the answer in my heart
Although he spoke not a word
I didn’t ask for wealth or fame
I knew you wouldn’t mind
I asked for a priceless treasure rare
Of a more lasting kind
I asked for happiness for you
In all things great and small
But that you’d know his loving care
I prayed for you most of all
You have your wings now and all the pain is gone
It’ll be hard not having you near me all day long
Just remember this I say
You’ll never be forgotten not for one lousy day
That’s why I keep you close to me and not so far away
All my love is headed toward you and every time it’s sunny
Or the sky is blue
I’ll know that you are up there giving me the
Strength to make it thru
With all our love,
Steve and Brittany
