Lee Lilly

B. Lee Lilly, 84, Springfield, Missouri passed on January 23, 2024. Daughter of Fred and Ada (Lawrence) Anderson, she was their second oldest child born in Keltner, Missouri, January 28, 1939.

Lee moved from Christian County at a young age to Iowa and then back to Douglas County and then Springfield where she graduated from Central High School in the year 1957. She was a member of the Kiltie Drum Corps and served as president of the corps her senior year. Lee worked for many years in Springfield doing secretarial work for several companies including Friendly Ford, where she bought her first Mustang for $1200, in the attendance office at Hillcrest
High School, and as a legal secretary for several law firms where she retired for the first time. Lee’s first retirement was short lived as she began working for Wesley United Methodist Church until her grandchildren, who knew her as “Nana”, became her priority and she retired for the final time.

Lee was active in her church community, singing in the choir and cooking in the kitchen for special events. Lee’s hobbies included sewing, knitting, quilting, baking, and enjoying walks in her favorite park, Nathaniel Greene, where she could have been found on any weekend with any one of her four grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Lee was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Lilly; sister Hazel Thornton.

Survivors include her children: David Lilly of Trenton, Illinois; Michele (Brad) Peck of Liberty, Missouri, and Matthew Lilly of Springfield, Missouri; grandchildren: Allyson Peck of Brooklyn, New York, Hope Peck of Liberty, Missouri, Anna Grace Lilly of Springfield, Missouri and Aidan Lilly of Springfield, Missouri; siblings: Frances Bunch of Springfield, Helen Hayes of Trenton, Illinois, Jim Anderson (Linda) of Sparta, and Kenny Anderson (Shirley) of Springfield. Also, many nieces and nephews.
