Adeline B. Willier, 98 died April 10, 2011. She was born December 4, 1912 in Mitchell, SD. Her parents were Andrew J. and Grace Anne (Garry) O'Brien.

She was preceded in death by her parents and five sisters, Irene, Loretta, Leona, Vera and Evelyn; her husband Thomas E. Willier, Jr. and infant son Thomas III. Adeline was a gifted pianist and singer, receiving her musical education at Notre Dame Junior College, Mitchell, SD and Presentation College, Aberdeen, SD. For years she was a member of popular dance bands and during World War II was head of the Springfield USO at Pythian Castle and carried a rating of first lieutenant.

She and Tom lived most of their adult lives in Houston, Texas, where Tom was the former City Traffic Engineer and later Transportation and Business Consultant. She is survived by an aunt, Helen Maass, Huron, SD; a number of nephews and nieces and long-time friends and caregivers Lewis and Ruth McKinley of Springfield.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 13, in St. Agnes Cathedral Chapel, Fr. Philip Lam celebrant with visitation beginning 30 minutes prior to service. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery under the care of Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Agnes Cathedral in her memory. We would like to extend a special thanks to the caring staff of Mercy Villa and Hospice Compassus for their care of Adeline during her illness.
