Obituary for Mary Patricia Shearholdt

Mary Patricia  Shearholdt
Mary Shearholdt age 65, Springfield, Missouri, departed this life on Friday, November 18, 2016 in Springfield. Mary Shearholdt was born and raised in Springfield, actually having lived in the same house since age 4. She attended St. Agnes Elementary School, Jarrett Junior High and graduated from Parkview High School in 1969. Mary received her B.S. in Public Administration, Cum Laude, from Southwest Missouri State University.
Mary was employed with the Urban Renewal Agency for 9 years and for the past many years has had the privilege to serve Greene County, Missouri as a Deputy Public Administrator in the office of Carolyn Vienhage Little and later David Yancey.
In 2004 Mary completed the certification process for the designation “Registered Guardian” through the National Guardianship Foundation. In 2001 and completing in 2002, Mary apprenticed at the Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home finishing that year by passing the State of Missouri certification to become a licensed funeral director. Mary became a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in December of 1992 and had volunteered for our “Fish Day” at the Crosslines Food Pantry every first Monday.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her brother John, her husband Gary and her great niece Aiyana Chase. She is survived by her nieces, Christine Hanvey, Jennifer Chase and Cassie Shearholdt; great niece Georgia, and great nephew Nicholas, and great great nephew Dominic, and many other family and friends.
Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. Friday Nov. 25, 2016 in Westminster Presbyterian Church with a reception following the service in the church. Private committal services will be Saturday Nov. 26, 2016 in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in St. Joseph, Missouri under the care of Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home.
