Obituary for Roy Frank Carter

Roy Frank  Carter
Roy Frank Carter was born August 27, 1921 in Reedley, California. He was a 1943 graduate of California Polytechnic University where he received his Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering. A US Naval Reservist he went on to active duty upon graduation and served aboard LST 543 in both Europe and the Pacific. In 2004 he was one of 100 D-Day veterans to be flown to Paris to receive the French Legion of Honor medal.
Roy enjoyed a remarkable forty year career in the HVAC industry serving in a variety of senior management positions. After retiring in 1986 he spent many hours locating former shipmates and arranging annual reunions in different cities.
He died in his home on September 19, 2016 and is survived by his wife Laura, of 70 + years, three children Cathleen, John and Richard, granddaughter, Chanda, nephews, Carter and Morley Mason, Leroy Carter and a niece, Cheryl Strait.
Memorial services will be held at Walnut Lawn Church of God on Saturday, October 1,2016 at 11:00 a.m. Memorial Contributions may be made to Walnut Lawn Church of God. Permanent online condolences, stories and photos may be shared at www.hhlohmeyer.com.
