Obituary for Frances "Kathy" Blades (Marshall)

Frances "Kathy"  Blades (Marshall)
Frances Katherine "Kathy" Blades 74was born April 18, 1940 in Woodland, Alabama to Velma and Oliver Marshall. She passed peacefully at home on January 16, 2015, surrounded by friends and family after a long battle with cancer. Kathy was preceded in death by both her parents, 5 brothers and Her oldest Grandson Shawn Campbell. She is Survived by her Husband, Partner and Best Friend of the Last 25 years Elbert Lee Blades. 4 Children; Sandra Campbell and Husband Ruben; Marshfield, Rick Brayfield Sr.; Marshfield, Greg Brayfield; Springfield, Regina Eckley and Husband Rick; Willard. She also had 6 Step children Tammy, Balinda, Nina, Jeff, Dwayne and Ladeena as well as their Spouses. 17 Grandkids and 23 Great Grandkids. Kathy was taught by her Brother in law to play the guitar several years ago and enjoyed having music get togethers with friends and family. She also enjoyed Gardening, Playing Pool, Dancing and Singing. Kathy gave her heart to Jesus at a young age but after being diagnosed with Cancer she insisted on being Baptized in the Creek on their property on Mothers Day 2013. Lee and Kathy have helped shaped the young lives of their Grand kids and Great Grand kids. It was never surprising to see one of them playing in the gravel, walking in the creek, looking for lizards and bugs or just hanging out with Grandma and Grandpa. Kathy loved with every fiber of her being and she will be greatly missed by her Family and a host of Friends.
Their will be a Celebration of her life at Yeakley Chapel on Old Route 66 Saturday January 24, 2015 at 1 p.m. in leiu of Flowers a Donation can be made in Kathy's name to Hospice Compasses of Springfield or Southwest Center for Independant Living of Springfield
