Mrs. Wanda Irene Powers, age 74, of Springfield, Mo. Passed away June 20, 2018 at ManorCare in Springfield.

She was born April 1, 1944 in Seymour, Mo. the daughter of Oscar Cook and Wilma (Dinner) Cook.

Wanda married Gary Austin Powers on February 19, 1962 in Springfield.

Wanda was a lifelong resident of Springfield graduating from Central High School. She worked as a meat cutter for Willow Brook Foods, then was a machine operator at both Zenith Electronics and Lily-Tulip. She worked overnight cleaning at Fuddruckers, but was mostly a homemaker for her husband and children all her adult life.

She was a lover of all kinds of animals. She went to auctions, thrift stores and yard sales. Bargains were a way of life and she enjoyed every minute finding one. Most of all though, taking care of family was her true love, joy and inspiration.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Wilma Cook; her mother & father-in-law, William and Virginia Criger.

Wanda is survived by her husband, Gary; a daughter, Annette Alexander and her husband Mark, three sons, Tony A. Powers, John A. Powers and his wife Phoebe, and Timothy J. Powers; four grandchildren, Mathew Powers, Tony Powers, Jr., Ricky Robey, Jr., Donna Martin; two great grandchildren; one sister, Barbara; five brothers, Oscar, Mike, Richard, Ronald and Donald Cook.

A visitation will be held from 9:00-10:00am Monday, June 25, 2018 at Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home, 500 E. Walnut Street, Springfield, Mo.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00am Monday, June 25, 2018 in the Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Chapel with Chaplain Mark Shaffer officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Park Cemetery in Springfield.
