Obituary for Glenn J. Elmore

Glenn J.  Elmore
Glenn J. Elmore, Jr., age 89, of Springfield, Missouri passed away on Monday, May 14, 2018.

He was born September 5, 1928 in Eolia, Missouri the son of Glennis J. Elmore, Sr. and Rose May Hampton.

Glenn proudly served in the United States Navy for six years.

On November 20, 1982 he married Carol Lee Susany- Newton in Titusville, Florida.

Glenn had worked for the Railroad for 10 years prior to going to work at the Space Center for several companies in many capacities. The last being a Instrumentation Supervisor, he worked a total of 29 years at the space Center.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge for over 50 years, Abou Ben Adem Shriners Lodge in Springfield, Mo., and the Scottish Rite Valley of Joplin, Mo.

Glenn is survived by his wife, Carol L. Elmore of the home; three daughter, Linda Crawford and her husband Ronnie of Tennessee, Jackie Gates and her husband Bob of Colorado, Gerri Hardy of Colorado; two stepsons, Thomas Newton and his wife Susan of Florida, Allan Newton and his wife Valerie of Florida; nine grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; nine great great grandchildren; two brothers, Jim Elmore and his wife Gerry of Washington, Joe Elmore and his wife Debbie of Texas; two sisters, Virginia Dowling of Illinois and Glenda Paulik of Illinois.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Bob Elmore; and one granddaughter, Laura Gates.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, 5201 S. Southwood Road, Springfield, Mo. with Pastor Melissa Dodd officiating. Full Military Honors will follow the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to St. Labre Indian School, 1000 Tongue River Road, Ashland, Montana 59003 or S. Joseph’s Indian School, 1301 N. Main Street, Chamberlain, South Dakota 57325 or the charity of your choice.
