Obituary for Donald Victor Capuano

Donald V. Capuano, 84, left his earthly home on March 16, 2018. Donald was a beloved husband of fifty six years to Marie; loving father to Donald Capuano (Julie), Marie Jarek (Mark), and Donna Moore (Steve); dearest PopPop to Diana, Michelle (Josh), Kacey, Grant, Elyse, and Hayden; brother to Bernard Capuano, Anna Nardo, the late Gaetano “Ed” Capuano, and the late Anthony Capuano.

He graduated from South Philadelphia High School for Boys in Philadelphia, PA with the class of 1952. Donald then attended basic training and graduated from the 3rd Army Signal School at Camp Gordon. He proudly served with the 9th Infantry Division as a high-speed radio operator. After his military service, he worked in the insurance and safety industry.

Donald had countless hobbies, including golfing, fly-fishing, model building, “cool” cars, reading, writing short stories, and military history. He served as the family historian, story-teller, and source of wisdom.

Donald was fiercely devoted to his family and completely enthralled with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His Catholic faith was woven through all that he did, welcoming anyone he encountered with the loving friendship of Jesus.

Family and friends are invited to the wake on Wednesday, March 21st at 10:00 am at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church with the funeral Mass following at 11:00am. Committal services with military honors will take place at Missouri Veterans Cemetery at 1:00pm.
