Obituary for John Olah

John G. Olah, 75, of Springfield, MO passed away on February 17th, 2018.

John was born on February 27th, 1942 in Trenton, NJ to John and Helen (Nemeth) Olah. He grew up in Roebling, NJ and had many fond memories of his father working in the eponymous steel mill. In 1964 John received a B.S. degree in chemical engineering as part of the first graduating class from the School of Engineering at Rutgers University, New Brunswick, NJ. Having found the love of his life, he proposed to Kathryn Sokolowski in the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and they were married June 15th, 1974. John enjoyed camping, skiing, drawing, and cooking gourmet meals (especially Hungarian meals). He was a voracious reader of science fiction, and he loved to study history and travel to those places. Above all, he loved to watch his children at their soccer games.

He is survived by his wife, Kathryn Olah, his children, John Christopher Olah, Houston, TX, Adrienne Olah, Medford, NJ, Danielle Boone and husband Tyler, Seattle, WA, his sister-in-law, Helen Giovannetti and husband Bill, his brother-in-law, Joseph Sokolowski and wife Magda, and many dear nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation and the praying of the Rosary will begin 6:00 pm Thursday, February 22, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church 2200 W. Republic Rd Springfield MO 65807. The funeral Mass will be held at the church 10:00 am Friday, February 23, 2018.
